In the event your employee sustains a work-related injury or illness, PG&E provides access to medical treatment through the PG&E Medical Provider Network (MPN). PG&E’s MPN accesses medical treatment through selected Anthem Blue Cross Prudent Buyer PPO (“Blue Cross of California”) providers and the Kaiser on-the-Job provider network. Anthem Blue Cross contracts with doctors, hospitals and other providers to respond to the special requirements of the on-the-job injuries or illnesses.
If your employee is seriously injured on the job and needs immediate emergency care, call 911 and ensure he or she goes to the nearest healthcare provider. As a supervisor, you or a safety professional can call the 24/7 Nurse Report Line on the employee's behalf. Once the employee's condition is stable, ask that they contact your workers’ compensation representative or the Medical Access Assistance in locating an MPN provider for continued care.
For non-emergency situations, employees may receive medical advice and/or treatment recommendations from the 24/7 Nurse Report Line, 1-888-449-7787. If needed, the 24/7 Nurse Report Line will refer the employee for a clinic visit within the MPN.
If an employee is temporarily working outside the MPN service area, he or she may be treated by the doctor of his or her choice.
At any point in time after the initial medical evaluation with an MPN physician, employees may select a physician of their choice from within the MPN. Click here to access the online MPN Provider Finder.
For help finding a treating physician and scheduling an appointment, employees may also contact PG&E’s Medical Access Assistant (MAA):
The Medical Access Assistant (MAA) is available Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific time.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the MPN, call 1-800-331-2084 option 2. You can also speak with your workers’ compensation claims representative by calling 415-973-8700, option 2.
